burgundy lips

My favourite lip color at the moment is burgundy. I love the simplicity of just having the dark lips and a very natural eye. I know it's not really a colour that's considered a summer colour but I have never been one for conformity , and worn the right way you can wear it any time..... sometimes there are no rules. I did the look on Eili below using just 5 products on her face... a foundation (sparingly as always), Nars cream eyeshadow in " Corfu" just on the lid and under the eye, mascara, eyebrow pencil, and Nars " Amsterdam" matt lipstick on lips AND cheeks ...and that was it. This color whilst in the burgundy range has a touch of red which gives it a less heavy feel, but if you did want to give the Amsterdam some depth Nars has done a great burgundy gloss called Rouge Tribal lip gloss that works perfectly over the top to intensify the colour and make it as deep as the colour in the pic above. This makes it a great look for evening...and extremely beautiful on darker complexions. I think this look is perfect for time poor women who need to look groomed but can't spend all morning in front of the mirror before racing out the door to get to work. By teaming it with a cream eyeshadow it gives the eyes a beautiful sheen which is perfect for summer. I like to use cream eyeshadows sometimes , it's quite a different look to powder - it can really bring the eyes alive, especially the lighter colours. A lot of brands tend to end up in the creases and move alot on the eyes but I find Nars consistency is a little heavier , it doesn't move quite as easily and if you run your finger over it lightly, it blends back again. You can also put a cream shadow over a powder one to intensify the look and it moves less. When using creams, be it foundations, eyeshadows or blush, it's always best to use a synthetic makeup brush as the product is harder to remove from natural hair brushes and can damage them.
