The Maybelline range are my favourite mascaras. I started using them years ago because I was having to replace them so regularly in my kit and they were cheap. After using them for so long I have come to realise that , yes they are cheap compared to other big brands, but they also don't dry up nearly as quickly as others, the wands give great thick lashes, and they don't clump. I tend to not use the pink range as I find the mascara is a little thin in texture and doesn't give good thick lashes like these Volume Express ones. The best thing is too they keep coming up with new ones to try and they improve the wands all the time.... all time fave.

If I was stranded on a desert island and could only take 3 things... this would be one of them. It was a recommendation after I noticed how fresh my friends' face was looking. She just had a dewiness to her skin that I hadn't noticed before. I mix these crystals in with my favourite moisturiser before bed and it is magic on the skin. It seems to refine the pores and make the skin look more youthful , and only a little powder required too so it lasts a long time.
I don't know about you but I find putting on false eyelashes, be it on myself or anyone else, extremely frustrating .... until I found these. They have a string thru the middle of them so you have more control about placing them on the lash line and it works....brilliant idea.
I did a Virgin Australia commercial recently ( see the ad on my commercials page ) and as the signature color for the girls is red , I went on the hunt for the perfect red. I always find that most reds are too orange or too blue.. .am on the eternal search for a great red. By chance a friend had given me a new Chanel lipstick which I had put in my kit and forgotten about. On finding it as I was going through my kit , it turned out to be exactly what I was looking for ! The color is rich without too much yellow to give it that orange/red look and not too much blue to give it that burgundy colour ....I'm in love! Finally the perfect red. It is also not so creamy that it slides off the lips, it has just enough matt to give it a good stain . The color is Chanel 39 and I shall be stocking up in case they ever decide to discontinue it!
With summer on its way , and pedicures back on this is my favourite colour for the season. I brought the Dior yellow and it is beautiful. Just the right shade of yellow and if you apply 2 thin coats you get a nice fresh look.... if you go heavy it tends to look like you've applied childrens acrylic paint to your nails .... less is more. It also has a wider , flatter brush than normal to make application easier .The only critique I have is that it has gone thick after only having had it 2 months , even though I have wiped the excess off the top of the bottle every time to try and avoid this. Would definitely get another one to use the rest of summer though as the color is just too good.
I LOVE eyeliner - have done since I was 18 and probably will til I die. To me it's always in fashion in one form or another. It's the quick fix if you don't have time to do a full eye makeup, or it can be a statement that needs nothing more than a soft lip to define the look. Whatever form you choose to apply it and by that I mean eyeliner, pencil or shadow, the trick is in having a steady hand. I tend to stay away from eyeliner pens as they don't always go on evenly ... I am still searching for the one. Personally I like to use either a black pencil , my favourite being NARS as it is not so soft that it smudges and leaves you with panda eyes half way thru the day or I use a black eyeshadow that I use wet so it dries on the lid and stays in place. I use a fine tip brush so you have more control and I wet the brush just a little before dipping in the shadow. Then draw the line as close to the eyelashes as you can get - I lift the lid up a little to do this - and make it the width that you want bit by bit . You have to let the shadow dry for a minute before opening your eye to avoid smudging. For a more dramatic effect I draw the line first with black pencil then go over it with a black eyeshadow either wet or dry depending how strong you want the look to be.
If anyone uses an eyeliner that they just love , is easy to apply and doesn't move please let me know... always love new products! pic courtesy of anothermag.com When it comes to making the perfect brows , this is my favourite pen of all time. Brows finish off the look of the face and it is important that they be done right. It's amazing what a difference they make to the whole look. Firstly they shouldn't be over plucked , personally I like a fuller brow... eyebrow tutorial to follow! This pencil is great for filling in the gaps and cleaning up the line of the brow. It also has on the other end a small brush that is perfect for smoothing out the look and making the brow look natural . The color I like to use is called Brunette. I use it for both light and dark brows - it keeps dark brows from looking too heavy...keeping my fingers crossed they never discontinue this one!
I love the colour combination of these lips and nails . Truly gorgeous. Nars has just put out a new lipstick colour called Amsterdam that is very much this shade - a nice change from red.
