What we put into our body is just as important as what we put on our skin if we want to fight signs of age. There's not much point spending lots of money on products to put on if we aren't prepared to put the effort into making sure we eat right. I have always tried to eat good foods, usually organic and I stay away from processed foods. And as I get older I realise that it is more important than ever if I want to look after my skin. I definitely notice the difference when I do. My skin glows and just looks healthy . And if I want my skin to remain looking good I have to be very disciplined because gone are the days when you could neglect your sleep and your eating and wake up looking freshly tousled and gorgeous. It definitely requires more work now!
Below is a list of superfoods that are great for keeping your skin in good shape. BLUEBERRIES - rich in antioxidants to protect you from anti-aging. WILD SALMON - Not farm raised, is one of the best sources of omega 3 which keeps skin supple and moisturised . It also contains Vit D which keeps your bones and teeth healthy too. It seems to be almost impossible to find salmon these days that isn't farmed. Since wild salmon is very hard to find, the best salmon I have found is the NZ salmon which is at least raised in rivers mainly in the Sth Island and they do not use antibiotics or chemicals. TOMATOES - are the best source of lycopene which is an anti-aging oxidant. It is most easily absorbed when cooked. KIWIFRUIT - This fruit is loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants, which keep skin firm , help prevent wrinkles, and are great for healthy bones and teeth. KALE- this one is the queen of greens. It contains potassium, iron, copper, phosphorus, manganese, and antioxidants Vit A, C, and K. It is also rich in lutein which is great for the eyes. Can't get enough of this vegetable I love it. CHOCOLATE - Before you reach for the Cadburys bar you better read on... it is dark chocolate and it has to be at least 60% cacao. Dark chocolate helps your skin to stay hydrated and protects from sun damage. And contrary to popular belief does not give you pimples. SWEET POTATOES - These are packed with beta-carotene, an antioxidant that fights aging. WALNUTS - Whilst these are not a personal favourite of mine I was surprised to see that they do give you smoother skin, healthy hair , brighter eyes and strong bones. They also contain omega 3 fatty acids and Vit E. Might have to get over my dislike.

About...I have been a makeup artist for over 20 yrs and am passionate about beauty and helping women to look the best they possibly can. I believe that women are beautiful at any age , and being older myself, am constantly on the look out for products that will help the skin retain its glow and beauty. From a very young age I have paid attention to my skin and have always gone looking for new, innovative - or even tried and true products that make a difference. I take inspiration from my friends and women I meet in my work. These women are the reason I started this blog , so that I can pass on my knowledge and help women to keep looking, and feeling amazing . I love finding new looks that inspire and you can adapt to your own style . I am also a mum with 3 boys which keeps my life very busy ... and never dull as anyone who knows me will attest to!
