I love a tan, I always feel like I look better. And I particularly like the color of a real tan , since tandoori is best left for chicken. But unfortunately lying out in the sun smothered in coconut oil for hours on end is not the way to go we have discovered, so my only safe option left lies in a bottle, or a tube. I sometimes feel that the chemicals that are in fake tan are probably just as harmful in different ways as the sun... the smell alone sets me on that path of thinking. But I saw a friend of mine the other day and she looked like she had been on holiday as she was this great colour and when I mentioned it she told me it was fake. It was a product called Eco Tan and it's organic... no artificial, synthetic or harmful ingredients , and best of all, no bad toxic smell.
I immediately went online and brought some. I applied it before bed, as they said, and as far as I can see , they are right.... it hasn't stained my sheets. I woke up with a tan that looks quite natural and best of all I got it even...except for one tiny patch on my ankle which came off with some firm scrubbing with a loofah and evened out. My trick to getting it even is to loofah the body thoroughly first in the shower, then moisturise. Then I take some cream the size of a 20cent coin and place it in the middle of the area I want to tan ie. the top of the thigh... and then spread it evenly up and down and sideways. Repeat this on the lower half of the leg, then do the same on the backs. Place a dab in the middle of the stomach and spread outwards, then the chest and lower arms, upper arms etc. I avoid the knees , elbows and the ankles as product tends to get stuck in these areas and streak . I also just brush it lightly over the foot and blend it down to the toes so it looks natural. If it does go a little streaky there just loofah quite firmly and it will come off and blend in as I said. I think applying one application is probably best as I can see that adding another might tip it into the realm of unnaturalness, depending on your own skin colour. ( I have reasonably fair skin to begin with) . I'm really excited to have found this. I don't feel quite so guilty about applying this product to my skin as i know there is nothing harmful in it... and the product is Australian made. Their website is www.ecotan.com.au . At this stage it looks like you can only purchase online within Australia. However, they do have stockists in NZ and Hong Kong , and there is an email address that you can contact them on to see if they would ship overseas. I have done this before with smaller companies and they have always been obliging.
